Jessica H. Maurer’s career consists of teaching in collegiate, corporate, and private venues as a certified ACE personal trainer and AFAA group fitness instructor for over 10 years. While her background is in dance, she has found her passion in fitness education, with a concentration in program development. She is a Master Trainer for BOSU, Tabata Bootcamp, Lebert Training Systems, and Barre Above, as well as the co-creator of LOK Fitness, which won SCW Innovative Program of the Year and Up-Coming Presenter of the Year at California Mania 2016. Jessica is also the social media/online manager for many fitness personalities and an active writer for various fitness blog sites.
I took dance lessons while growing up in south Georgia, so I was ‘active,’ but not healthy. I always thought I had a weight problem, but over the past few years, I realized that my “weight issue” was really just a bad case of low self-esteem. Teaching fitness has taught me that everyone has issues and everyone needs to deal with those issues head-on. I want to improve everyone’s self-esteem and help everyone reach their potential.
THRIVE, my first business, began with Wes, my husband, discussing the problems some of my clients were having with fad diets, infomercials, and time management. We wanted to teach people that wellness requires lifestyle changes, not temporary fixes. We offer services that are adaptable and realistic. We are here to help you create healthier and realistic habits set within your current lifestyle.
My desire to help people reach their potential does not end with the general public. I am a Master Trainer for Lebert Training System, BOSU, and Savvier Fitness. My passion is fitness education. I love meeting new fitness professionals, learning from their experiences in the industry, and sharing my little “nuggets” of wisdom. For more information, please go to this page.
In addition to the instructor trainings I teach on behalf of other companies, I also help fitness professionals build successful businesses so that they can touch a larger audience. I help instructors create and launch instructor training programs and certifications, including writing the participant manuals and training their Master Trainer teams.

What is your earliest fitness memory? I remember being a kitten in my ballet company’s production of Peter & the Wolf when I was 6. The costume was itchy.
Who is your fitness inspiration, and why? I have so many people that I admire and look up to in this industry. Mindy Mylrea, Jenn Hall, Tricia Murphy Madden, and the list goes on…
What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment so far? Becoming a MOM! Fitness wise, my answer would be becoming a master trainer for people who I admire.
If you could go back in time to your first year of teaching and give yourself advice, what would you say? I would tell myself to be more confident in my approach of teaching. And to stop wearing my ballet leotards to yoga class! Change your clothes, woman!
What’s your go-to motivational cue? Dig deeper than you think you can
What fitness goals would you like to pursue? I competed in a local sprint triathlon before my son was born. I would like to start training again for races and compete in an Olympic triathlon.
What legacy would you like to leave on this industry? Anyone can make an impact on another person’s life. You don’t have to have the genes of a fitness model or be able to dance like a video star. You just need to be positive and love to move forward!
